St Paul’s students are involved in creating music every day in one of our renowned instrumental ensembles, in private instrumental lessons or in the classroom. Students are offered many and varied musical experiences as part of the St Paul’s Music program and we consistently strive to help our students push themselves to achieve their best.
The ensembles at St Paul’s are of an incredibly high standard and involvement in these groups allows students to gain valuable experience performing in front of their peers and the wider community. We have many choirs, string ensembles, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles and guitar ensembles which cater for students of a range of abilities and ages. All ensembles have regular performances throughout the year including our annual Music in the Park and Con Brio events, performances at assemblies and other school functions, competitions – including our prestigious Solo Competition – and at many recitals and instrumental concerts.
There are also opportunities for students to learn from one of our fifteen one-on-one Music Tutors, who are experts in their fields and continue to be performing musicians in such nationally and internationally renowned groups as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Trichotomy, Topology and the Deep Blue Orchestra. Over 500 students learn from our Tutors and, as part of our ensemble-based co-curricular program, are placed into an appropriately graded ensemble as soon as they achieve sufficient skills on their instruments.
